Position Summary:

The Associate Pastor provides leadership, oversight, and accountability to the administrative functions and operations of Fishersville Community Church, while providing hands-on leadership and oversight in the areas of ministries that serve the families of the church (kids, students, families). Administratively, the Associate Pastor will develop, implement, and manage efficient systems and processes that will support the vision, mission, and values of FCC as we continue to grow. The Associate Pastor will be provide direct oversight of our NextGen ministries, including kids, students, and families at varying levels of involvement (direct hands-on and/or staff support to key volunteer leaders). The Associate Pastor reports directly to the Lead Pastor with accountability to the Provisional Leadership Team.

Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Assumes staff and ministry leadership during the Lead Pastor’s absence
  • Identifies solutions to problems, challenges, & issues within the ministries & operations of the church
  • Provides initial and ongoing leadership training/equipping and development within areas of direct ministry oversight as listed below.

Church Administration

  • Manages the administrative functions of the church including but not limited to the following:
    • Office Processes & Communication: develops, implements, & maintains efficient systems & processes and provides oversight/direction of office volunteers.
    • Church Management Software: manages the church management software to ensure efficient, effective usage across the church, while acting as the “master user” & equipping the church to effectively utilize the software
    • Fiscal Management: oversees & manages the financial processes, including but not limited to vendor relations, accounts receivables/payables, serving as the primary contact/coordinating with our third-party bookkeeper, etc.
    • Human Resources: develops and manages the HR processes and systems including on-boarding, approval/tracking of staff time, etc.
    • Buildings & Grounds: provides oversight and leadership to Buildings & Grounds team & associated functions, including being the main point-of-contact for building access control, facility-usage scheduling & requests, facility set-up/room conversions, fire & emergency relationships & communication, etc.

Families/NextGen Leadership

  • FCC Students:
    • Develops & implements the direction, programming and logistics of all ministry activities in an effort to fulfill the vision, mission, and values of FCC.
    • Develops & implements asset development and ministry communication
  • FCC Kids:
    • Provides staff oversight & direction to the Kids Ministry Director and team, supporting the director and providing recommended updates and efficiencies, assisting with ministry/church communication related to FCC Kids. 
  • FCC Families:
    • Directs any/all family ministry, including but not limited to Family Dedication, etc.
    • Preliminary family and child counseling, referral and follow up related to family matters

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates a deep personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Ability to lead family well, balancing family, work and variation of ministry hours
  • Competent to teach, preach and personally disciple others
  • Gifted in administration (including relevant technology) as well as family ministries.
  • Ability to flourish in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment
  • Problem solver with effective and efficient leadership skills
  • Stewardship minded, organized, detail-oriented, self-thinker and self-motivated.
  • High degree of discernment, loyalty and honesty to the purpose, mission and vision of FCC and it’s Lead Pastor
  • Exceptional time management with sense of detail strategy combined with ability to look ahead.

Additional Employment Details:

  • Work Schedule:
    • Work days are typically Sunday - Thursday, with Friday/Saturday being off days, unless dictated by ministry.
    • Hours are based on the needs of the ministry but regular office hours are expected along with support/participation in other ministry events.
  • Paid Time Off:
    • Two weeks of PTO are included
    • Sick leave is granted based on need (no set hours/days)
  • Compensation:
    • Salary is based on experience
    • Supplemental compensation provided to help offset healthcare/insurance expenses
