Associate Pastor in Youth / Children Ministries

Job Description

PURPOSE

  1. Hollywood Baptist Church is seeking a full-time position responsible for overseeing all aspects of student ministries K-12. The Associate Pastor in Youth / Children Ministries will be primarily responsible for Junior–Senior High Programs (6-12) with secondary responsibilities regarding the K-5 programs.
  2. The Associate Pastor in Youth / Children Ministries will serve as the primary person to coordinate Youth Ministries of Hollywood Baptist Church. The Associate Pastor will work collaboratively under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor and in the absence of the Senior Pastor, he is responsible to the Board of Deacons. It will be required of him and his family to become members of Hollywood Baptist Church following the 60-day probationary period.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Biblical references: Acts 20:28-32; I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4
  2. Adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
  3. A heart of worship and service to God demonstrated through a vibrant prayer life and a life surrendered to Christ.
  4. Ability to cooperate with all staff to promote unity and oneness and strive to carry out the entire ministry plan of the church.
  5. Ability and commitment to maintain personal standards of Godliness based on Biblical Principles which results in an uncompromised testimony within the church and community from which a credible ministry originates.
  6. Able to communicate effectively in one-on-one, small, and large group settings exhibiting a pleasing attitude that is confident and enthusiastic.
  7. Ability to be actively involved and supportive of the overall life of the ministry, including all ministry areas and leaders.
  8. Must be circumspect in dress and demeanor.
  9. Bachelor's degree preferred

 

ASSOCIATE PASTOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. In coordination with the Senior Pastor, the Associate Pastor will take phone calls and facilitate other ministerial duties that might arise.
  2. Assist with visitation as directed by the Senior Pastor and in any other needs that arise in this area.
  3. Maintain continued growth to his personal calling and walk with the Lord through consistent Bible study and prayer.
  4. Develops and exercises personal evangelism within and outside the church.
  5. Preach or teach when arranged with the Senior Pastor, and/or when needed to fill the

pulpit in the absence of the Senior Pastor

  1. Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

 

YOUTH / CHILDREN MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Shall develop, organize, and administer the overall Youth / Children Ministry of the church.
  2. Shall coordinate all leadership training for Youth workers and leadership.
  3. Oversee Youth / Children Sunday School, Youth Meetings, and Youth Discipleship.
  4. Will seek the salvation of the youth in the church and in the community. He will also attempt to foster their growth and development in Christian leadership through the teaching, application, nurture, and admonition of God’s Word.
  5. He shall engage in and promote Youth Visitation.
  6. Will be available for counseling with youth and their parents.
  7. Prepare an annual budget for the Youth / Children Ministry to be presented to the Finance Committee for their approval. Final approval will come from the church at the annual budget meeting.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Attend committee meetings that pertain to his area of responsibility, including but not limited to the Church Council, Youth Ministry, and Leadership Team Meetings.
  2. Meet with Senior Pastor on a weekly basis for prayer, collaborative planning, and evaluation.
  3. Maintain personal priorities with his spouse and family as the spiritual leader.
  4. Attend seminars and conferences designed for ministry as approved by the church.
  5. Required to adhere to the church constitution.
  6. Maintain appropriate technical aptitude to perform his duties (i.e. – computer software, social media)
  7. Demonstrate responsibility in being punctual and committed to the ministry programs of the church.

COMPENSATION AND EVALUATION

  1. Salary will be commensurate to experience and is negotiable.
  2. The Senior Pastor and / or Leadership Team will provide an annual evaluation of the Associate Pastors performance.
