Oak Grove Baptist Church, a theologically conservative Southern Baptist church, is seeking a man of God to serve as our bi-vocational Choir Director/Worship Leader. This position is an opportunity to lead our congregation in Scripturally based, reverent worship and to guide our church choir in using their musical gifts to glorify God and edify His people.

We are looking for a leader who is passionate about honoring King Jesus through music, who holds firmly to the authority of the Scriptures, and who desires to lead our church family in Christ-centered worship that reflects our faith and convictions.

Responsibilities:

  • Compassionately lead the church choir in weekly rehearsals and worship services, both Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, ensuring the choir is well-prepared to lead the congregation in worship.
  • Select hymns and songs for worship that are Biblically sound, doctrinally rich, and consistent with our theological convictions.
  • Lead the congregation in worship, directing the choir and ensuring that the focus of the service is always on glorifying God and responding to His Word.
  • Direct choir during special music programs, including seasonal cantatas.
  • Provide spiritual leadership and discipleship to choir members, encouraging them in their personal walks with Christ while fostering unity and collaboration within the music ministry.
  • Communicate effectively with church leadership, staff, and volunteers, ensuring clear direction for rehearsals, services, and special events.
  • Serve as a spiritual example for the congregation, demonstrating a heart for worship, prayer, and personal devotion to Christ.

Qualifications:

  • A man of God with a strong, growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by a life of integrity, spiritual maturity, and a commitment to the truth of God’s Word.
  • Proficiency in reading music and a solid understanding of worship music—both hymns and contemporary songs—that are rooted in Scripture and in line with the church’s theological convictions.
  • Vocal ability.
  • A deep passion for leading the congregation in worship that is Christ-centered and Scripture-focused.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other church leaders, musicians, and volunteers.
  • A compassionate, servant-hearted leader who loves people and desires to see others grow in their faith through the ministry of music.

Position Details:

  • Bi-vocational position, approximately 8-10 hours per week.
  • Weekly Rehearsals: Sunday mornings (8:30AM) and Wednesday evenings (7:10PM).
  • Weekly worship service on Sunday mornings (10:30AM).
