I:          PRINCIPAL FUNCTION AND MISSION

The Assistant Student Director serves as an integral member of the Student Ministries Team who ministers to Great Bridge’s middle and high school students. This role will assist the Student Ministries Pastor with the administrative, vision casting, and other weekly aspects of leading comprehensive programs that develop the teenagers of Great Bridge Baptist Church into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

 

II:         PREPARATION & QUALIFICATIONS

The Assistant Student Director should demonstrate a calling of God to this field of ministry. The Student Director should be fully committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the truth of God’s Word, as well as be able to articulate both in agreement with Great Bridge’s purpose, statement of faith, governing documents, and ministry philosophy and must be a growing disciple of Jesus Christ whose life manifests the fruit of a vital relationship with Him. The Student Director must be passionate about Great Bridge’s vision, values, and purpose and demonstrate a strong desire to serve and minister to students. Membership or becoming a member of Great Bridge Baptist Church and weekly attendance at worship services are required. The Student Director must be above reproach in all relationships and must possess healthy family relationships. Experience in a church ministry setting is preferred, with experience planning activities, events, and/or organizing retreats a plus.

 

III:        SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES, ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Provide administrative support for the Student Ministries Pastor.
  1. Coordinate graphic design for promotion posters, flyers, and social media content.
  2. Maintain website updates for Student Ministries with updated information.
  3. Coordinate details of Student Ministries activities, events, and retreats, including (but not limited to) payments, contracts, registrations, materials, printing/copying, food, etc.
  4. Assist in keeping Student Ministries facilities and storage areas stocked, neat, and organized.
  • Support volunteers of Student Ministries.
    1. Provide support for curriculum distribution to volunteers.
    2. Assist Student Ministry Pastor with the yearly recruitment of volunteers, including retention, recruitment, new volunteer training, annual all-volunteer training, and annual thank-you event.
  • Communicate and connect with parents, volunteers, and students who come from diverse backgrounds and represent different walks of life.
  • Demonstrate aptitude in technology and social media.
  • Work a 25-hour work week with 15-20 hours in the office Monday – Thursday,

5-8 hours on Sunday, and be present for meetings and events as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Student Ministries Pastor.

 

IV:        SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES, MINISTERIAL 

  • Assist with middle school spiritual development and programming.
  1. Oversee weekly life group programming.
  2. Provide counsel, guidance, and mentoring to students when required.
  3. Ability to build meaningful relationships with students, parents, and volunteers.
  4. Develop and teach large group lessons for students.
  5. Coordinate with the Student Ministry Pastor on the scope and sequence for small group programming and weekly communication.
