Part-time Ministry Assistant

The Ministry Assistan supports the church staff, membership, and congregational leadership and oversees the office duties.

 

Principal Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Work with paid staff and church members to achieve the goals of the church;
  2. Atten Church Council meetings, leadership meetings and staff meetings as requested to take minutes.

 

Communication:

  1. Create and edit the church bulletin, church newsletter, and other marketing/promotional materials using appropriate graphic design skills and software.
  2. Prepare promotional materials for committee chairpersons and organizational directors as requested.

Facility Management:

  1. Assist the Premeses Committee with church-adopted policies and procedures regarding the use of all church properties and facilities.
  2. Maintain and coordinate the church facility-use calendar.

Admininistrative tasks:

  1. Perform clerical tasks and other administrative duties such as receiving and reviewing correspondence, distributing mail/materials;
  2. Answer phones, facilitate requests for assistance, maintain email accounts and email datatbase, distribute emails and mail:
  3. Type and prepare mail/correspondence.
  4. Type and prepare reports, minutes, agendas, etc., as requested:
  5. Purchase office supplies; maintain postage and ensure postage machine complies with postage regulations;
  6. Take and maintain reservations, including Wednensday night dinners and/or meetings;
  7. Complete background checks for volunteer and paid staff positions;
  8. Reconcile weekly offering in Realm system;
  9. Manage(in conjunction with the appropriate committees) a long-range plan for updating equipment, office furnishings, and software;
  10. Maintain office calendar.

Online Presence:

  1. Coordinate the church's online presenceand content, including church website and social media accounts;

Accept other responsibilities as assigned.

The church ministry assistant will report directly to the Senior Pastor and Personnel Committee.  Adherence to the strict confidentiality policy is a must.

Education: Associate Degree or higher preferred

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. excellent command of English composition and grammar.
  2. demonstrated proficiency in computer skills, including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint;
  3. demonstrated proficiency in graphic design as well as experience with graphic design software.
  4. knowledge of accounting software a plus;

Other skills:

  1. strong attention to detail and accuracy
  2. excellent communication skills
  3. excellent interpersonal skills
  4. ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

This position is for 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Hours may be adjusted for staff meetings and church council meetings.  Salary will be negotiable based on competence and experience.

Paid holidays are New Year's Day, Easter Monday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving day and Friday after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.  Ministry Assistant will be paid in case of inclement weather.

Prior experience working with a church or other 501(c)(3) non-profit organization preferred.
