JOB SUMMARY:
To provide oversight into the weekly Children’s Ministry offerings which includes Sunday mornings (nursery, preK-1 st grade and 2 nd -5 th grade classrooms) and Thursday evenings (nursery, preK-1 st grade and 2 nd -5th grade classrooms). Additionally, this role would oversee children’s outreach activities including: Egg Hunt, VBS, Trunk-or-Treat, Christmas Drama and Bethlehem Shoppe. The Director will ensure the effectiveness of the ministry including: developing and mentoring volunteers, ensuring fiscal responsibilities, providing resources for the activities for the ministry and upholding the mission and values of the ministry.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Role:
To serve as the administrative director of the Children’s Ministry by recruiting, training and developing all volunteers within the ministry. Additionally, supporting and promoting a safe and fun learning environment for all Children’s Ministry activities. Finally, responsible for administrative and fiscal oversight of the ministry to include annual reportable outcomes from the ministry.
Responsibilities:
- Pray regularly for each child and desire for them to become all God has equipped them to become.
- Pray regularly for all volunteers associated with the work of the ministry, and for the leadership of the church.
- To recruit, train and continually develop Primary, Assistant and Junior Assistant Teachers in effectively creating a learning environment that respects the children of Good Hope Baptist Church.
- Successfully integrate curricula into Sunday morning activities for PreK through 5 th Grade (current state: The Gospel Project).
- Ensure Children’s Ministry (PreK-5 th Grade) have an effective Thursday discipleship curriculum to promote growth and engagement as fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ (current state: The Books of the Bible).
- Develop and effectively utilize the fiscal resources of the Children’s ministry to promote growth and development of activities.
- Communicate with the GHBC Administration to ensure timely scheduling of activities, including promotion of activities to the church congregation and community.
- Develop and deliver training sessions to ensure classroom teaching skills are met and to feed your passion for working with children.
- Communicate and develop communication processes to ensure open communication and transparency with all parents/guardians of the children participating in the ministry.
- Coordinate with other ministries to ensure ongoing recruitment and communication of needs involving children at Good Hope Baptist Church.
- Fill-in as needed for teacher vacancies, ensuring you remain current with curriculum so that you can effectively teach a lesson if needed.
- Become certified in infant and child CPR and First Aid, when course is provided by the church.
- Remain compliant with the GHBC Children’s Ministry Handbook and uphold the GHBC CM Code of Conduct.
- Attend staff and leadership meetings.
- Coordinate with the Pastor to provide care and support for our children's families.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Strong administrative gifting to provide clear structure and oversight of Children’s Ministry activities. Ability to communicate effectively with volunteers and parents/guardians involved in the ministry.
Useful skills for this position are the ability to work collaboratively with other teachers, have a love for children and desire that they have a solid biblical foundation.

REQUIREMENTS
To be an active member of Good Hope Baptist Church who has completed the background check process. Meet with Pastor/Elder to ensure spiritual readiness to uphold the nature of the position and support the mission and vision of the church. Possess gifting and qualities to develop volunteers to support the optimal learning environment for Good Hope Baptist Church’s Children. The following are additional requirements, as appropriate.
