Liberty Baptist Church is currently seeking a full-time Associate Pastor to support our Lead Pastor in shepherding the congregation, church administration, providing pastoral care, oversight of evangelism and discipleship ministries. He will also be responsible for teaching and preaching as necessary.
Job Description:
The Associate pastor is responsible for assisting the Lead Pastor in leading the church to function as a Southern Baptist Church.
Primary Duties:
- Proclaim the Gospel formally and informally through preaching, personal witnessing, and personal lifestyle.
- Aid the church in developing a comprehensive evangelism and outreach strategy.
- Prepare and deliver sermons and lead in the observance of the church ordinances as needed.
- Aid in planning and conducting worship services in consultation with other staff ministers.
- Aid in oversight of an effective program of visiting the sick, shut-ins, and church members in times of personal crisis or celebration.
- Conduct counseling sessions by request and referral, referring to other professional resources when deemed appropriate.
- Perform wedding ceremonies and conduct funerals as needed.
- Assist in the assimilation of new members.
- Assist the elders, deacons, staff, church council, and other ministers in a comprehensive team ministry approach to carry out the mission and objectives of the church.
- To aid in the organization of church-wide events/outreach initiatives for the purpose of outreach and evangelism.
- Oversee and organize Sunday School.
- Oversee and organize small group ministry.
- Aid in the execution of church business administration duties.
Qualifications:
Qualifications of all pastors are found in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. The pastor must be an ordained minister of the gospel and theological training is desired or equivalent experience to show doctrinal and lifestyle fidelity. The Associate Pastor must affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
Schedule and Compensation:
The workday will include the established office hours for the pastoral staff and such time as is required to meet the responsibilities of the position. As Sunday is considered a normal workday, a second day off shall be scheduled by church leadership. Although office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm with a scheduled lunch break, the Associate Pastor may spend time away from the office during the day to accomplish his duties as established by the Lead Pastor. The base compensation range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000.
