Key Responsibilities:

Discipleship Support:

  • Provide administrative support to the Adult Discipleship Pastor in planning and coordinating Life Groups, Midweek events, and Marriage Ministry.
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of discipleship resources.
    Coordinate communication with group leaders, class participants, and volunteers.
  • Help track attendance and engagement in discipleship programs.
  • Support the preparation and execution of special discipleship events (e.g., retreats, seminars, or conferences) by assisting with logistics, promotion, and participant registration.

Missions & Multiplication Support:

  • Assist the Missions & Multiplication Pastor in planning, organizing, and promoting mission trips and outreach projects (local, national, and international).
  • Help coordinate logistics for mission team meetings, travel arrangements, accommodations, and fundraising efforts.
  • Maintain a database of missionaries and mission partners, ensuring accurate records are keptand updated regularly.
  • Assist with the preparation and organization of mission-related events, such as fundraising dinners, missions’ conferences, and prayer nights.

General Administrative Support:

  • Answer and respond to emails, phone calls, and inquiries related to both pastors.
  • Prepare and maintain reports, documents, and other materials for both pastors.
  • Assist with scheduling meetings, appointments, and calendar coordination for both pastors.
  • Provide general office support as needed, including filing, organizing, and credit cardreconciliation.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of resources and supplies for both pastors.

Qualifications:

  • Profession of faith in Jesus Christ and baptized as a believer.
  • Understands and supports the mission, vision, values, and beliefs of First Baptist Church ofNorfolk.
  • A member in good standing of First Baptist Church of Norfolk, or willing to become a member.
  • Excellent organizational skills and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a willingness to learn additional software such as Leadr, Church Community Building (CCB), Planning Services, etc.

Physical Demands:

  • This position may require occasional lifting of supplies (up to 25 pounds).
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a desk for extended periods of time.
  • Flexibility to attend evening or weekend events as needed.

Work Environment:

  • This position is based in-person at First Baptist Church of Norfolk. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate closely with both the Missions & Multiplication Pastor and Adult Discipleship Pastor to ensure all activities are carried out smoothly.
