Salem Baptist Church is a body of disciple-making believers strategically situated on Broad St Rd in Goochland, Virginia—one of the fastest growing areas in Virginia—just 5 minutes west of Short Pump. With increasing numbers of the greater Richmond population moving west along Broad St and the surrounding region, Salem is poised to reach and disciple a host of new people. The fields are white for harvest.
Salem typically sees around 200 people in regular attendance on Sunday mornings and hosts a growing children’s ministry and youth group as well as several on-site small groups and off site connect groups both Sunday mornings and throughout the week. Our mission is to make disciples of all nations (Matt. 28:29-20) and our strategy involves a combination of outreach and discipleship that endeavors to see folks in our community become friends we grow to know and love and to see those friends become part of the growing and developing family of God.
In an effort to support that strategy and mission, Salem is seeking a full-time Associate Pastor for Youth who will serve the Lord and His church by discipling young people and encouraging families in their walk with Christ so that those who grow up at Salem are prepared to articulate and share their faith as well as make disciples wherever God may lead them.
The Associate Pastor of Youth must possess a calling and passion for discipling others (especially young people) as well as the biblical qualifications to lead in the context of the local church (1 Tim 3:1ff; Titus 1:5ff; 1 Pet 5:2). To that end, the candidate must have a proven, fruitful, and mature relationship with Jesus Christ, a strong biblical background, and the ability to articulate and teach truth in a compelling and biblically responsible way (Titus 1:9; 1 Tim 3:2, 6). The candidate must also provide leadership qualities that include, but are not limited to, interpersonal and organizational/administrative/communication skills as well as the ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers and parents in all humility.
