Administrative Assistant
Summary of role:
The Administrative Assistant will work alongside, and under the direction of, MPBC’s pastors and staff to provide them with the necessary in-office assistance and logistical demands that are called for by the Gospel ministry of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
Time Commitment:
- Part-time (20/25 hours/week)
- Certain seasons or events may require additional time
- Work location is to be at the church building (Hours should be consistent once set by Administrative Assistant and Lead Pastor)
- Mandatory attendance at weekly staff meetings
Compensation:
Paid Time Off:
- PTO 40 hours per year
- Bereavement (to be determined on a case-by-case basis)
- Holidays (National Holidays and office closings)
Responsibilities:
Administrative Support & Scheduling
- Assist staff pastors with day-to-day administrative duties and schedule management
- Provide general ministry assistance to pastors and staff as needed
- Assist musical worship team as needed
Records & Documentation
- Maintain electronic and hardcopy filing systems for church documents and organizational records
- Keep the church directory and related contact information up to date
- Maintain the church calendar and coordinate events
- Assist with planning events and trips as needed
Financial Duties
- Assist Treasurer with processing payments and bills
- Assist with payroll processing
Communications
- Compose and distribute the weekly newsletter and Sunday bulletins
- Serve as a liaison between pastors and the public via Connect Cards, phone, mail, website contacts, and other communication channels
Office & Facility Support
- Maintain office supplies necessary for ministry operations
- Coordinate cleaning supply inventory with custodian
- Coordinate scheduling of basic office and building upkeep to ensure readiness for ministry activities
- Monitor and uphold the facility security system
- Track key holders and manage temporary key assignments

Spiritual Character and Church Commitment
- A sincere love for Christ and His church, with active membership in a local congregation
- Evident spiritual maturity, prayerfulness, and consistency in bearing Christian fruit
- A growing knowledge of Scripture and a desire for continued growth in biblical understanding
- A conviction that administrative service in the local church is meaningful Kingdom work

- Hospitable, servant-hearted, and eager to demonstrate the love of Christ to others
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills and a posture of supporting pastoral ministry
- Discreet and trustworthy when handling sensitive or confidential matters

Skills and Competency
- Demonstrated administrative ability and organizational skill
- Proficiency with computers and common office software

- Sound judgment and reliability in carrying out assigned responsibilities
